In their bid to penetrate the Indian market, Kaspersky Lab has appointed
regional distributors across the country. While Softmart Solutions in New Delhi
has been appointed as the regional distributor for North, Chennai-based eCaps
Computers India has been appointed as the regional partner in the South. In
East, the company has tied up with Kolkata-based Sea Infonet. In the West, the
company has gone ahead to appoint a host of partners to ensure better coverage.
Mumbai-based Terrabyte, Apex Computers and CS Computech are among the regional
partners appointed by Kaspersky.

Talking about the distribution strategy, Karunesh Tapia, Head-Kaspersky
Sales, Zoom Technologies mentioned, “We have registered considerable sales
growth in the last one year and in order to keep the momentum going and to
penetrate further, we resolved to role out the regional distributor strategy.
These partners have good reach and can do volume business for us. Besides they
are also promoting ethical software, which was one of our key concerns while we
were looking at appointing partners.”

Kaspersky is also looking at launching a single user (Internet security pack)
and mobile security software for the end users by the end of March this year.
“Kaspersky has been offering anti-virus at the service provider level already.
However, we will soon have an anti-virus for the end customers that can be
installed at the handset level. The company is also planning to have a three
user pack for SME and the corporate that can help them in centrally managing and
dealing with anti-virus problems. We will have a new version for the corporate
customers by the end of march.”

He further added that Kaspersky is aiming at providing the customers in India
with a software that is affordable as well. “At a time when PC is available
within a range of Rs 8,000-10,000, installing software alone costs customers
around Rs 2,000 and above. However, we are trying to offer the same to Indian
customers at a price that is affordable so that they do not indulge into buying
pirated versions. Kaspersky is serious about India and we are seeing a host of
opportunities in retails, SME, SOHO, Corporate and home user segment,” he added.
