Coming up with an ambitious plan to reach Rs. 250 crores by FY 2013, Eastern Logica Infoway (ELIL) has ventured into the telecom space with a new exclusive cellphones retail outlet and is considering venturing into the distribution segment shortly.
With the new project, the company has created a new business entity Logica Telecom, which is independent of ELIL in its functionality but revenues are consolidated into ELIL, which still remains the parent company.
"We have been distributing HCL tabs which is a mix of the telecom as well as IT space as tabs neither fall in the pure mobile phone based segment, neither it is a pure IT product and have met with considerable success. Also, nowadays customers want outlets to have a complete range of electronics products and so we thought of venturing into the telecom space", said Sundeep Mishra of ELIL.
The new outlet is featuring an entire range of phones of major brands but the company is focussing on the high-end smartphone models and will be entering the distribution segment in the smartphone range only.
"Talks are on with major vendors and principals over tie-ups which I think will be finalised by January-end. We have a strong presence in West Bengal whereby we bill to 290 outlets which are all potential cellphone partners for us and so, we have a huge opportunity in telecom distribution", Mishra added.
Logica Telecom is expecting to reap atleast Rs. 8 crores from the retail telecom segment and another Rs. 25 crores annually from the forthcoming telecom distribution venture.
ELIL has also relocated its head office to Saklat Place from its earlier location at G.C. Avenue which is able to accommodate all its employees besides adding in modern office facilities.
"The new office is 4000 square feet which can put up 80 employees and can feature board rooms, training rooms and others", Mishra concluded.
