East Delhi Computer Traders Association (EDCTA) finally put
together a full-fledged governing body on April 3, 2007. Forming the association
was a long-standing desire of many IT dealers and resellers operating from the
eastern corner of the capital. "We started with 15 members in the month of
December, assigning posts amongst ourselves as per mutual consent. Within three
months the association membership has touched 43. In the next two months the
members count will reach approximately 100," informed Ravikant Gupta of
Comhard System who has been appointed President of the association by mutual
consent.

While 12 names were tabled, five governing body members and
seven council members were appointed on mutual understanding along with the

During the meeting a lot of issues were discussed some of which
the association agreed to complete in their tenure. The association plans to
develop a website for the association which will be regularly updated. The
members also suggested quarterly carnivals or exhibitions to promote the
association in the market and among the vendors.

Speaking about the formation of the association Walecha said,
"The idea behind the association is to bring the East Delhi channel
community under a single platform where all the members will be kept updated
about any fraudulent practices or cheaters in the market. In every meeting the
association will share a list of defaulters so that the other members don't
fall prey to them."

Adding to the purpose of the association Rajpal said, "We
want to bring recognition to East Delhi market. There is much more potential
here than in Wazirpur. We will request major vendors like Samsung, LG, Seagate
etc to start their service centers here, which will help partners operating in
this region."
