As a run-up to the saplings-plantation drive, and with a view to support
long-term sustainability within the company, on February 27, 2009, SAP Labs
India introduced a distinctive initiative, namely 'Root-Cause'. Employees were
invited to bid for saplings that will be planted at the campus, with the
starting amount as Rs 5,000 and the bids thereon, in multiples of Rs 500 each.
The top 5 bidders/teams were invited to plant a sapling each, alongside visiting
SAP Executive Board Members Gerhard Oswald and Erwin Gunst, children from a home
which is supported exclusively by SAP Labs India employees, and volunteers from
SAP Labs India's internal 'Planet Green' program and SAPPORT, the volunteer
group which manages the company's CSR programs. Raghav S representing IMS CRM
and NetWeaver business unit was the highest bidder, with the bid of Rs 24,000,
and the top five bids contributed to a total of Rs. 83,000. The proceeds
resulting from this auction will be used for future initiatives of 'Planet
Green', a program at SAP Labs India that ensures conformity of business
operations to eco-friendly practices.

At a global level, SAP AG announced a long-term strategic focus on
sustainability, covering both its own operations and customer solutions for more
sustainable business practices.

Erwin Gunst, member of Executive Board and COO, SAP AG, commented, “We extend
our domain expertise through our solutions to our customers and enable them to
achieve clarity across their operations and better manage their sustainability
performance. At a global level, we believe that a holistic approach is the best
response to social, environmental and economical challenges.”
