In their bid to provide a broad platform to address common problems related to the channel community, resellers based at Dharamshala, Kangra, Hamirpur, Mandi and Palampur have come forward to form an association - Dharamshala Hardware Association.
"This association is formed as part of our effort to make sure that our problems get highlighted on a broad spectrum. IN today's scenario service has become an integral part of channel business and sometimes a lot need to be done to make sure that our end customers get proper service. So with the help of this association we would be addressing such issues for the betterment of channel community," informed, JS Chowdhery, President at the newly formed association.
The association has 65 members spread across the region and more and more channels are aligning themselves with this effort. "In fact we have just formed this association about six weeks back and we have got a good feedback so far. We are meeting up at Hamirpur on 6th of August to finalize about the charter for the association," he added.
Apart from the natural beauty - the lush green hilly region of Shimla, Kullu, Kangra and Chamba are primarily active in three areas - SOHO segment, semi corporate segment and the government area. "The state government over here is engaged in a number of e-governance project, so this is a good area for us," he explained.
Government of Himachal Pradesh is actively involved in transforming the state machinery on par with other e-government friendly states such as Andhra Pradesh. The state has recently unveiled its Land Revenue Online Records system and Online Registration of Vehicles. "The government is also engaged in installing a number of information kiosks at important townships within the state. The combined size of the market for the region of Kangra and Palampur is around 100 PCs per month," he explained.
