Dell unveils ultrathin XPS notebook

Dell India recently at an event held in Mumbai launched XPS 13 Ultrabook, and this would be the first in the series of ultrathin notebooks rolled out by the company.

Dell India recently at an event held in Mumbai launched XPS 13 Ultrabook, and this would be the first in the series of ultrathin notebooks rolled out by the company. Commenting on this launch, Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director & General Manager, Consumer and SMB, Dell India said, "The XPS 13 is a perfect mobility device packing powerful technology into a small, portable package and delivering enterprise-friendly protection and security."

XPS 13 offers enterprise ready features for professionals like Dell ProSupport services and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that satisfy the needs of IT departments. It weighs less than 1.4 kgs and is one of the smallest products in its class, featuring an edge-to-edge glass, near "frameless" display, and all-day battery life. In addtion, it featuers a razor-thin bezel, bonded Corning Gorilla Glass, carbon fiber base; and full-size, backlit keyboard. This ultranotebook is powered by the latest Intel technologies, such as Intel Rapid Start technology and Intel Smart Connect technology.

The company started taking in orders almost a week back and the product will be available to consumers by early April. This device will be made available to the mass through exclusvie channel partners, retail outlets and Large Format Retails (LFR). Elaborating upon this, Bhalla said, "This product is clearly not for box pushers. In the first phase, this product will be made available through at least 200 Dell exclusive stores across India." He further added that the existing channel partner programs will be applicable for this products also.

This product is targetted at specific two to three type of customers. The company spokesperson states we believe this product will interest pure consumers, professional consumers and CXO level consumers. This ultranotebook will be also bundled out into corporate deals through its GCC partners.

Apart from this, Dell offers standard protection plan in the industry with its Premium Protection Package which includes default 3 year warranty with premium phone support, In-home service after remote diagnosis and 3 years Complete Cover. The XPS 13 price starts at Rs 79,900 plus local taxes as applicable.
