mobile workstation.
The Precision M40 enables workstation-application users to create and display
their work in the office or around the world. It combines performance hardware
that performs complex tasks with the mobility that eliminates the need to carry
bulky and expensive drawings and video.
The new Dell system was developed for customers who requested a mobile
computer with workstation benefits such as hardware certified for critical
OpenGL applications and specialized technical support. The Precision M40 is
appropriate for 2-D and 3-D professional workstation users focused on segments
such as: mechanical computer-aided drawing (MCAD); architecture electronic
creation (AEC); digital content creation (DCC); global information systems
(GIS); and software development.
The Dell Precision Workstation M40 is optimized for the industry's key
workstation applications and incorporates drivers certified by independent
software vendors to help ensure that Dell customers experience optimal
performance and productivity from their hardware and software.
The Precision M40 base configuration includes the NVIDIA Quadro2Go
workstation graphics card with 32MB of video RAM, an IntelTM PentiumTM III-M
processor at 1.2GHz with L2 cache which supports Intel's SpeedStepTM technology,
512MB SDRAM, 15-inch UXGA LCD display with 1600 x 1200 resolution, DVD/CD-RW
combo drive, 48GB2 ATA-100 5400 RPM hard drive, an eight-cell lithium-ion
"smart" battery and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional. Pricing for
