The IDC IT channel associations' survey

placed two of the Delhi-based associations-Computer Media Dealer

Association ( href="https://www.dqweek.com/cmda-cvc-to-lock-horns">CMDA)

and Progressive Channel Association of IT (PCAIT)

at the 14th and 19th position respectively. CMDA was ranked 4th last

year, but this year it has slipped down to number 14. According to

the report, it has received good scores on parameters like full time

employee, elections and internal meetings. On the other hand PCAIT

was ranked 17th last year but this year it got down to number 19,

though it has been ranked well by the members. Both these

associations couldn't make it to the top 10, this time, while the

only association of North India, bagging the 9th position is the

Jammu Computer Dealers Association (JCDA).

CMDA received substantially lower

scores on parameters that include social activities and awareness

programs, while PCAIT received low scores from the analysts point of

view, and parameters like membership growth, awareness programs,

communication mode, social activities and regular update of websites

were responsible for its low score. The arena where both the

association lack is in the organization of exhibitions and trade

fairs. Speaking to The DQ Week, Puneet Singhal, President,

CMDA said that, they plan to work closely with PCAIT. "We will

discuss the areas where we have not done well during the next

executive meeting, and work mutually to improve the areas that

include social initiative and awareness programs," said Singhal.

Speaking to The DQ Week on the

current IDC ranking, Saket Kapur, Secretary, PCAIT said that social

activities and website updation were not the focus area of the

association in 2009. "We were more focussed on arbitration among

our members, as well as interfacing with the government organizations

such as DDA and MCD for a number of issues," he said. According

to Kapur, PCAIT has been involved in cleaning up Nehru Place, so that

the image of one of the largest IT channels hubs of Asia can improve,

and it is a continuous process. On asking about the CMDA-PCAIT joint

initiative, Kapur said, "We have always been ready and keen to

shake hands with CMDA, for the fulfillment of our objectives. In

fact, in the past, both the association participated in each other's

activities, which is a healthy practice for the betterment of the

channel community.
