Datamatics and Cadmus form a JV to service publishers

Mumbai based Datamatics Technologies and Cadmus Communications Corporation, provider of publisher services, have entered into a Joint Venture (JV) to form KnowledgeWorks Global Limited (KGL), with an idea to provide a full range of content processing, content ma-nagement, and related services to STM publishers and other organizations around the world. 

Cadmus owns 80 percent in KGL while the rest is with Datamatics. KGL has recently established a facility in Chennai that would be operational by January 2004, while Datamatics already has a facility in Mumbai. The JV will provide a full range of highly automated content services for journals, periodi-cals, and books including data conversion, copy editing, issue management, and full service composition.

KGL expects to close the first year of operations with revenues of $ 5 to 6 million and is aiming for revenues of $ 20 million in the third year of operation. The company plans to employ around 400 people by the end of this financial year and plans to increase this number to 1,000 over the next three years. $ 1 million have been invested in this JV so far and according to company sources this will further go up to $five million over three years. The new entity will be totally export oriented and is targeting European and North American market initially.
