The Internet and mobile Association of India launched its Make in India Conducive Policy and Regulatory Environment to Incentivise Datacentre Infrastructure on 24th of may at the Leela palace.

The welcome address was given by Ankhi Das, Public policy Director of Facebook South and Central Asia. She said there was a need for Datacentre to grow faster, lowering consumer costs. India was at rank 121 out of 140 countries in data infrastructure and at rank 121 out of 140 countries in data usage.

Chief Guest Amitabh Kant, CEO of Niti Ayog gave the Presidential address. He said that innovation and ecosystem were just blossoming out in India. He stressed the need for connectivity to grow rapidly, connecting even all gram panchayats. India should become a simple and easy place to do business in. he highlighted the Uday Schome for focus on Infrastructure, which helped people to acquire the right ecosystem for data centre to grow and expand in. He said datacenter will be a key business in future. Also, E-commerce was set to grow from 20 billion to 200-400 billion. Niti Ayog was set to work with the departments of telecom and energy, in order to help the data centre market.

Vote of thanks was given by Shubho Ray, President of IAMAI. He inquired after the possibility of having one window to solve the impediments in the way of digital start ups. Amitabh Kant also invited all the people building digital start ups to approach Niti Ayog if they faced any regulatory problems in their way.
