D-Link (India) Group has promoted Mercury Link Systems Ltd, a JV between
Lanner Electronics India Ltd (a D-Link India Group Company) and Mercuries Data
Systems Ltd (MDS) of Taiwan to manufacture and sell Automatic Teller Machines
(ATMs) in India. India is the fastest growing ATM market after China.
According to the company release, the new company ‘Mercury Link Systems Ltd’
will manufacture its full range of ATMs at D-Link’s art plant in Goa to cater
to the rapidly growing ATM market in India and abroad.
"The plant will manufacture ATMs for both the Indian and global markets
and this fits in perfectly with our vision to make D-Link (India) a player in
the world outsourcing scenario," said KR Naik, CMD, D-Link (India) Ltd.
The release further states that this strategic investment by D-Link Group
through Lanner India Ltd, will result in D-Link (India) carrying out contract
manufacturing for the new JV company. The plant has a capacity to manufacture
10,000 machines in a year.
