D-Link introduces private cloud, bets big

Under the umbrella of mydlink cloud services, the company has introduced a gamut of devices like cloud routers, cloud camera and cloud storage.

Network solutions provider D-Link India has launched its 'personal cloud' networking solution which includes the routers, cameras and storage solutions, for the Indian market. "With the ‘mydlink cloud' series initiative, we will be definitely gaining maximum mind-share of customers and enrich our channel partner's business growth in India. While ‘cloud computing' has already garnered a lot attention, it is the personal cloud that will forever change the face of networking in the future. Going forward, most of D-Link products will come under the umbrella of mydlink cloud services," said Tushar Sighat, CEO, D-Link (India) Limited.

According to the company, the cloud routers are priced at around Rs 2,900, while its cloud cameras are priced at around Rs 5,499 and cloud storage solution is priced at Rs 14,000. Speaking further on the channel strategies related to its cloud series, Anoop Jarial, AVP - Product Marketing, D-Link (India), said, "There is a tremendous potential in the Indian IT channel market. As per our go-to-market strategy, in the initial phase of our ‘mydlink cloud' service, we will be only focusing on our existing regional and nation distributors to increase their profit share in the market. And, later, we would be adding in more channel partners."

Currently, there are about 80 plus regional distributors and two national distributors - Ingram Micro and Redington with the company. Throwing more light on the channel front, Kerman H.Rana, VP - Channel sales said, "It is an ongoing process for training our channel partners to encourage their go-to-market strategies. And, we are planning to come up with a training program for our channel partners in the next month."
