Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has announced that it has
established an agreement with Cyberstar, an authorized Hita-chi distributor, to
support a nationwide extended warranty program in India. End-users, systems
integrators and OEMs can now extend the warranty of Hitachi Deskstar hard drives
purchased from an authorized distributor in India after May 1, 2004.
According to the press rele-ase, the agreement with Cyber-star will enable
Hitachi GST to further differentiate itself in India by enhancing the service
value of its Deskstar product fa-mily, which is already well kno-wn for high
capacity and excell-ent reliability and performance.
"ATA desktop drives account for more than 90 percent of the market in
India, so the exte-nded warranty program will be a significant value-added
ser-vice for customers," said Pete Andreyev, VP (Asia Pacific), Hitachi GST.
"We realize that three-year warranties are important to customers in
India, so we are pleased to be supporting this key initiative," he added.
The India Extended Warra-nty program is now available for all Deskstar family
pro-ducts, which include 40GB, 80GB, 120GB and 160GB ATA100 models that come
with a standard 2MB cache and one-year warranty. Custo-mers have the option to
buy the Extended Warranty certi-ficate from Hitachi GST aut-horized distributors
at the time of drive purchase.
