Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) plans to launch a new
development center in Chennai.
The company plans to begin its operation in Chennai from
April 15. The center will be located at a leased space, which will initially
accommodate 400 employees. The facility will provide applications and
infrastructure services for many of CSC's global clients.
The California-based comÂpany is actively recruiting for
all levels in order to increase its headcount to 1,000 in Chennai by year-end
and 3,000 when center becomes fully operational. “We selecÂted Chennai as one
of our strategic locations to supÂport CSC's aggressive growth objectives in
India. Chennai is among the first few cities to start offshore software
development in this country and, through proactive initiatives on behalf of the
state governÂment, has established a reputation for excellence in IT services.
Other factors involved in our selection include Chennai's excellent
educational system, its strong talent base and quality of life,” said Tom
Kenyon, President and MD of CSC's operations in India. “We will leverage
both our India and international experience to build a strong presence for CSC
in Chennai and deliver significant business results to the clients we serve,”
added Kenyon.
