Confed ITA to support genuine dealers?

Conederation of Information Technology Associations (Confed-ITA), the umbrella association of all the district associations in Tamil Nadu has received a proposal for forming a committee for genuine software dealers.

Karthikeyan, CEO, Bloom electronics, Coimbatore, who is also an advisor for the association has sent a proposal to the president for framing a committee for monitoring the genuine dealers. Speaking to ‘The DQ Week', Karthikeyan said, "The Genuine Dealers Association (GDA) formed in Mumbai is a very good initiative. On the lines of GDA, we want to create a separate committee to monitor the distributors and dealers of genuine software products". "The proposed name for this wing would be ‘Genuine Dealers and Distributors Committee' which have a team which would monitor the movements of genuine products for every one quarter.", he said further adding that since the Confed-ITA is very strong in the state, there is no need for the starting a new association. "This is the high time we should think of such a committee so that those who do not follow the eco system of the channel business in Tamil Nadu will be curbed", he said. He also said unlike in North, in Tamil Nadu, most of the channel partners are backing only the genuine products. "The market here is very peaceful. However, few people are spoiling the entire dignity of the business. In a team of 15 partners, one person selling fake product will tarnish the image of the remaining 14 partners", he said.

The much noteworthy aspect of this proposal is to upload the list of genuine partners in the website. "Product-wise, the official website of confed will have the list of partners who sell genuine products in every district", Karthikeyan said who also said that he is hoping for huge support from the members. The issue has been proposed to the president of the association and is likely to be tabled in the first Executive Committee meeting at Tirunelveli.
