Follow UsConfed-ITA organized its final cricket tournament on 22nd and 23rd February at Shankar Polytechnic College Grouds, Tirunelveli. Hosted by CDAT-Tirunelveli, this year saw the participation of 16 district associations in the cricket tournament. League matches were conducted and 8 Teams qualified for the final tournament. The qualified teams were TITA-Tirupur, CDAT-Tirunelveli, COSWAD-Dindigul, ITAT-Theni, CITA-Coimbatore , ACT-T-Trichy, NDITA-Namakkal, and VAIT-Vellore.
Confed Cricket Cup 2014 was inaugurated by the President R. Muthiah Pillai. Quarter finals, semi finals were conducted in two Grounds. Finally TITA-Tirupur and COSWAD-Dindigul qualified for Finals.
Tirupur Won the toss and chose to field first. Dindigul Scored 103 Runs all out /19.4 overs, while Tirupur chased the target in 16 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. The Cricket Cup 2014 winner TITA-Tirupur sponsored by ABI-LENOVO got the Price money of Rs.1Lakh while Runner up COSWAD-Dindigul sponsored by CANON got the price money of Rupees fifty thousand. Man of the match was awarded to S.Elangovan and Man of the Series to Mahendraprabhu.
Captain of Dindigul Alagappan, said "Every match we played as a final and from the last 2 years performance they reached in finals". He also expressed his hopes for aiming the winning cup in next year.
President of TITA Mr. Joseph.M Raja announced with some social commitment "TITA is ready to spend the prize money for some charitable purpose."
President, Confed- ITA said "Definitely it is a milestone and it is my pleasure to see the interesting participation from all the members."
Secretary, Confed- ITA Mr. C. Arumugam said "This tournament shows the professionalism of the
members those all are coming forward wholeheartedly and everybody witnessed the nice hospitality of
the Tirunelveli Association (CDAT)"
After the match, the event had an award felicitation ceremony where the winner and runner-up, man of the match and man of the series were awarded by the President R. Muthiah Pillai, Secretary C.Arumugam and Sports Chairman Sujay K.Vijayan. Players of final match were awarded with mementos.
