the vendor-distributor-customer triangle and strengthen the
relationship between the channel and vendor community,

recently, conducted a 'Get together to grow together' (GT2GT)
meet in Coimbatore. A Muthuswamy, president, Confed-ITA, presided
over the meeting. In his presidential address, Muthuswamy said, “This
is a meeting to create a platform for both the vendors and dealers to
discuss the issues and concentrate on the opportunities and
challenges.” He also
added that Confed-ITA, constituted in 2006 as Tamil Nadu IT
Association, is now present in 27 out
of 32 districts in Tamil Nadu. He also informed that 2 more districts
are about to join the group.
R Mahesh Kurup, executive
committee member and chairman of the event said, “By participating
in this event, a vendor can meet their partners representing various
districts across Tamil Nadu at the same time instead of traveling,
which would take nearly a month.” He also added that issues related
to breakage, logistic, DoA and arranty needs more clear policies. He
also asked the channel partners to feel free to discuss their
day-to-day issues with the participants representing vendor
companies.
“By participating in
this event, I had an opportunity to meet a representative from a
vendor company and share my long-pending issues. I was assured that
my issue will be addressed immediately,” opined a
dealer who participated in the event. “This is an innovative
'first-of-its kind' idea which I think no
other association in India has done so far,” averred a
vendor-participant. More than 70 dealers
participated in the meet. The meeting was followed by dinner which
allowed the participants to
interact with each other. The gala event ended in a pleasant manner
with some dealers crooning a few old tracks of the singer-Ilayaraja
and some even shaking their legs on latest numbers.
The vendor participants in
the event were requested to support the partners inthe 'Stand on
Our Own Legs' (SOUL), one of the ambitious projects of the
Confed-ITA , formulated by the CITA, Coimbatore. S Karthikeyan of
CITA, Tamil Nadu said, “The IT partners are playing key role in
elevating the life style of others but themselves are having very
poor lifestyle. Some partners even work for14 hours a day for all the
7 days in a week”. He also requested the vendors to support the
SOULproject which has been formulated for the goodwill of the family
members of the dealers. “The objective of this project is that a
dealer from Tamil Nadu who is a soul bread-winner of his family, if
dies, his family will be deserted. SOUL will help his family members
to live a life with self dignity and self-reliance,” he further
added.
Terming this scheme a
pro-active measure, Karthikeyan said this scheme would help the
children of the partners to have a quality education. “It is good
that an association is coming up with an innovative idea which is
totally for a nonprofitable cause,” said a vendor participant. As
of now three companies have nodded for this scheme.
