Confed calls for pan South India IT association

Representatives across South associations invited for talks in the fifth Confed-ITA summit

The much-awaited dream of the South channel partners-framing an association for the entire South-came true during the fifth summit organized by Confederation of Information Technology Associations (Confed-ITA), the umbrella association of the district associations of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. As a first-of-its-kind, the event housed representatives from all the 3-4 associations of South. Representatives from associations in Nellore, AIT-Bengaluru and All Kerala IT Dealers Association (AKITDA) participated in the event titled ‘Enlighten to Empower' organized in Puducherry. Even Confed-ITA speakers mentioned that there is a need for a South association which will pave the way for a pan-India association like the Nasscom. N Rangaswamy, Chief Minister of Puducherry was the Chief Guest of the event.

On the first day of the 2-day event, the present office bearers presided the meeting. A Muthuswamy, president, read the presidential address. Nalin R Patel, president, AIT-Bengaluru and Anantharam, VP and John Kottara, PRO, AKITDA, on their speech, stressed the importance of having an association which is a conglomerate of all South channel partners. Following that, there was also a debate session among the channel partners who were split into teams discussing on the cause of the channel partners. The sitting office bearers also discussed about the key activities done during last year like GT2GT, expos and general body meetings.

The second day started with a rally from Gandhi statue to the event venue by the association members supporting environment-friendly activities. Also there were association-wise presentations by the members. Out of all the associations Vellore Association of IT dealers (VAIT) bagged the Best Association award while R Rajkumar from Computer and Media Society (CAMS) bagged the award for Best EC Member and C Arumugam from Vellore was selected the Star Performer.
