"IT as such is a competitive field. Since I have already set my foot here, I have created my presence." This is Lalitha Sriram, Proprietor of OMS Computers, who has created a niche for herself in the IT industry by developing creative and effective technological solutions.

The company, which now concentrates in computer rentals, web hosting and web designing, had started off in 1996 as a bulk data processing industry mainly for off shore companies. "We started with Vetri Software. It was a twenty-four hour workshop where we did text documentation. Later it was special image based documentation where we worked with Imagine Technologies. From there we got an opening at an UK based company called Hays International. Since we were handling their confidential documents we were asked to put up our workstation in their office. So we had 32 of our systems in their office. But now we are not doing bulk data processing because it is more labor oriented," said Lalitha
Sriram.

In 1998, OMS Computers diversified into computer rentals. Whether you want desktops, printers, scanners or monitors, OMS would be a good choice. From basic Intel Pentium configurations to the current high specification equipment, from A4 mono printers to entry level as well as high end networked laser printers and color inkjets and monitors with 15" to 21" can all be rented from OMS Computers. The other area where OMS Computers has made established its presence is in corporate multimedia presentation and corporate training of customized products. OMS helps corporates make presentations on any of their products using both audio and video. The company is also into web hosting, web designing, domain registration and FTP (Free Transfer Protocol) services and having around 50-60 clients.

Apart from a presence in Chennai, OMS Computers has a web-designing center in Coimbatore and they are planning to open offices in Hyderabad and Mumbai too.

Lalitha Sriram with a background in Business Administration has been in the IT field for over eight years. "I am promoting this company as a woman entrepreneur," she added.
