Primarily
known as a company focusing on the end-user retail segment, Computer
Exchange (CE) is about to undergo a makeover, building up its
solution sector at a fast pace. “We have been into low-key
solutions previously, but never concentrated on this front. However,
right now, we will be taking up this option as a viable business
opportunity,” said Debashish Dasgupta, manager, marketing, CE.

CE has
already taken up a 2500 sq ft space in Rajarhat area, developing it
into a technology and mod demonstration facility, hosting a wide
variety of solutions ranging from virtualization, open source
software development to automation.

Most of
our corporate clients are clustered in the Salt Lake sector 5 and
Rajarhat area. At this point, our solutions client base comprises
medium and small software development firms nestled in these areas.
However, at a later stage we will venture out to address every
consumer base,” Dasgupta added.

Besides the
facility, CE has also launched a work shop over automation, whereby
students after enrolling for a small fee can get hands-on training on
the basics of automation and robotics. Commenting over this aspect,
Dasgupta elaborated, “Robotics is one of the most important
emerging areas of interest for students and the technology is in
demand in the city. With the workshop program, we are helping
students and interested people in learning the basics of this
technology.”

We have
already deployed a small technical team of 5 personnel in the
facility to demonstrate potential and existing clients our offerings
and mods. The place is fully- quipped to host and demonstrate live
applications and mods to clients,” said Naresh K Bothra, CEO, CE.

Although CE
is considering the solutions business as a viable business option for
the company, it has not jotted down a firm long-term plan for
developing their business on this line. “The solutions business for
CE has just started and we are testing various business options at
this stage. After about 6 months we will be considering revenue
figures and business percentages for solutions,” Dasgupta
concluded.
