With market sentiments reportedly recovering after the rupee sprawl, Compass is considering holding a series of carnivals across West Bengal to maximize sales and revive the growth witnessed in 2011.
"We will be coming up with the carnival theme across West Bengal which is the first of its kind in the state," said Pradeep Biyani, president, Compass.
According to Biyani, this is the first time that Compass has initiated such activity poised to cover the entire state and not just limit it to Kolkata only. The association will be floating various schemes and related promotional activities across West Bengal which, the association hopes, will revive sales.
"The carnival will be held in August this year, however, the idea of carnival is still at a nascent stage and nothing concrete has been planned till now," he added.
Gurav Goel and Vinay Dugar has been appointed to lead the carnival series and provide guidelines for its execution. Presently, Compass is discussing the idea and selecting the mechanisms of operations and logistics at a large scale to cover the entire state. However, there hasn't been any discussion over inclusion of other local associations in the carnival.
"If local associations in the upcountry areas wants to associate themselves with us, we welcome it," Biyani said. A similar type of activity was tested at a smaller scale in Khetra Das Lane last year by about 30 dealers which met with tremendous success with chunks of idle stocks being cleared on account of aggressive pricing, schemes and promotions. Now, Compass is in the mood to test the same at a larger scale in West Bengal.
