Compass gears up for expo

The annual Compass (Computer Association of Eastern India) exhibition is all
set to be held on Dec 14 to 17 at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. Speaking
on the developments, Arun Jalan, Chairman-Exhibition Committee, Compass said,
“This is one show the industry awaits eagerly all through the year. As usual we
are receiving a huge response from all across, and this also proves the
increasing popularity of the event.”

The main sponsor is Xenitis Group, while DSK Worldman and Amconics are the
co-sponsors. Zenith, Netgear, HP, Lenovo, MSI, RPG, Nvidia and Apsis are the
associate sponsors. The entrance gate sponsor is D-Link and the official media
partner is DQ Channels. “Each year we receive a fantastic response from the
market as well as the sponsors. This time we have roped in all leading brands
like HP, Lenovo, RPG, etc as our sponsors which is a great effort on behalf of
Team Compass,” said Jalan. “The enthusiasm shown by these companies to
participate in Compass exhibition is very encouraging for us as it shows the
growing acceptance of this event across the industry,” he added.

This year the theme of the exhibition is 'Computer for Everyone'. “Our
objective is to promote IT to be every man's tool. We will be focusing on
products, which are useful as well as affordable for everyone. Through the expo
we want to create more awareness among users which will add to the computer
literacy rate in the state,” explained Jalan. This time there are a total of 120
stalls and pavilions where participants will display their offerings. To
accommodate more number of participants in the show the association has promoted
one stall per participant. “This policy will be very helpful for the smaller
companies to participate in the mega event who otherwise don't get a chance. We
are also giving additional discounts of 10 percent to those companies who are
taking a single stall,” informed Jalan.

Sponsored by Seagate, Compass is also organizing its annual award ceremony on
Dec 16 at the newly opened Spring Club. “This time the venue is exceptional
since the idea is to offer something niche and different from Compass every
time,” stated Jalan. The association is also planning to include new award
categories this time to honor the efforts of Compass members. “Although we are
yet to finalize the awards, categories like Lifetime Achievement Award, Woman
Achiever Of The Year Award, IT Personality Of The Year Award, etc might be
introduced this time,” he informed.

For the first time Compass will also organize various activities within the
venue during the four days of the event. Activities like, IT Quiz for school
children seminars on various hot topics like business management, marketing, new
technologies like, Wi-Fi, multimedia, surveillance, etc will act as additional
attractions for the expo. “While 20 renowned schools from Kolkata will be
participating in the quiz, we will be inviting top shots from different
industries and field as speakers for the seminars which will be open to anyone
and everyone who visits the show. The idea is to make the seminars very
informative as well as interactive,” said Jalan.
