Compaq India's enterprise storage division has been chosen by P&O Ports, a port operator, to implement a Disaster Recovery (DR) solution for their port operations at Chennai Port Trust. The solution consists of a production site and a disaster site separated by 2 kilometers, built with Compaq's RA8000-based SAN, SANworks Data Replication Manager (DRM), MSL 5026 Tape Library and AlphaServer DS20E.

The DR solution is based on Compaq SANworks Data Replication Manager (DRM), using redundant fiber links to connect the production and disaster sites. The production site, which is the primary data storage site, will consist of an AlphaServer DS20E server cluster complete with an RA8000 Fibre Channel (FC) Storage Array and MSL 5026 Library. The disaster site or the secondary site will consist of an AlphaServer DS20E and an RA8000 storage system.
