Compaq brings in ‘Evo’ for business

The recently established Access Business Group of Compaq
Computers unveiled its new sub brand named Evo in Mumbai. The new products that
were launched under the new sub-brand included new Evo N150 (Rs 1, 40,000) and
N400C (Rs 1, 30,000) notebooks having the revolutionary Multiport technology and
the W6000 (Rs 1,95,000) and W8000 (Rs 2,90,000) workstations that deliver
outstanding performance and expandability. The Multiport technology offers a
choice of both wired and wireless networking, and allows a user to switch
between Bluetooth and 802.11b for wireless connectivity.

Addressing a press conference, Ravi Swaminathan stated that
Compaq will sport a new industrial design in carbon and silver and will aim at
providing customers one -stop business solution.

Swaminathan said that the launch has brought in the most
innovative and latest mobile and wireless technology solutions to the corporate
space, which are simple and easy to manage and deploy what business need today.

According to Swaminathan, worldwide Compaq captures around
9.3 percent of the commercial desktop market and around 11.3 percent in the
consumer desktop market, where as it is 29.8 percent in the computer notebook
market. Compaq is now looking forward to bring revolution in wireless world by
their products, he said.

Compaq also revealed the design of their future product
called Dual World, which though look like a laptop can be used as a desktop PC.
The area covered by the Dual world is one third of the normal computers.
