For the fifth time, Vellore IT Dealers Association (VAIT) is planning to
organize a three-day expo between October 9 and 11 at Vellore, Rangalaya Kalyana
Mandapam, Gandhi Nagar, Vellore. The expo is co-sponsored by K7 and Samsung.
The association has planned for 52 stalls, of which only six are yet to be
booked. Members were given priority to book the stalls this time. Last time, the
expo housed 70 stalls, while the space constraint of the venue has brought down
the number of stalls this time. Stalls on the ground floor of the hall have been
taken up by the member-represented companies, while the stalls on the first
floor have been allotted to members.
CP Praveen, President, VAIT and chairman of the expo organizing committee,
said, “We are conducting this expo essentially for raising fund for the
association. We expect 15,000 visitors and spot sales of about 200 pieces of
laptop/desktop sales, in addition to inquiries.”
The association is expecting visitors for the expo from nearby towns, such as
Guidyatham, Ambur, Vaniambadi, Thriuvannamalai, Ranipettai and Arcot. The
association is planning to feature gaming and food zones, and is in talks with
some vendors. “To encourage visitors to visit each stall, we are planning to
issue a form at the entrance on which they have to get a seal from each stall
they visit. Based on this, they would be given some discounts in the gaming and
food zones,” informed Praveen.
The association has Rs 1.25 lakh budget for placing advertisements in print
media, cable television channels, posters in supermarkets, and distributing
brochures in colleges and schools. Arumugam, Secretary, VAIT, said, “We expect
the expo would stimulate the stagnate market and would be a great opportunity
for the partners to generate business.”
