Coimbatore IT Dealers
Association (CITA ), has recently undertook a social initiative of
tree plantation. The association wanted to start the 'Green' movement
from a long time. It is decided that every member will be given a
tree and he/she will look after the same by either planting it in his
house or near by areas. R Mahesh Kurup, president, CITA said, “We
wanted to do a public service initiative from a long time. We didn't
take any money from the association fund and pooled our money.”
A total of 50 saplings
were planted and members were instructed to take care of their
sapling. G Suresh of Ecaps said, “We want to inculcate the
importance of greenery to our children. Otherwise, they will take it
for granted considering we live in a concrete jungle. We will be
inculcating more such initiatives in future.” The association has
already planted a total of 100 in first phase and aiming to plant
about 500-1000 more. Members are also planning to approach
residential associations to plant trees in their vicinity as well.
Suresh concluded, “We
will be conducting such events every 3 months. Today, being our New
Year, all members have shown tremendous support towards this cause
and I thank every one for the same.”
