Coimbatore association makes Rs 1 crore through expo

Coimbatore Information Technology Association (CITA) through their IT Expo, one of the most potential revenue-generation activity of the association, has generated approximately 1 crore revenue business.

The 15-year-old forum with 120 Registered members had participated in the 11th edition of COMPUFEST 2012 which was inaugurated last week.Speaking to ‘The DQ Week', the official media sponsor of the Expo, G Suresh, chairman of the expo committee, said, "The response for the expo was very good and every single person who entered the stall was a potential customer rather than a window-shopper."

Speaking further on the participation, he said, "There were more than 70 Stalls and participation are there from leading IT Vendors like Lenovo, HP, TOSHIBA, DIGISOL, ASUS, Belkin, Dell, Samsung, INTEL, Intex, TP-LINK and so on." On the sale of the products, Suresh said, "During the expo totally 200 laptops were sold and there were enquiries for around 600-700 laptops." On the fragmentation of the crowd, Suresh said he witnessed around 20% of the crowd were entirely from the student community.

Speaking on the arrangements, Mohan, President, CITA, said, "More than 100 Colleges in and around Coimbatore has been invited personally for this event happened at Padmavathi Kalyana Mandapam in the city", he concluded.
