Cisco Systems Inc announced plans to strengthen its Kolkata
office in order to enhance its presence in the eastern region. The ramp-up is in
line with Cisco's strategy to boost and strengthen its customer engagements in
West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and northeast. The Kolkata office will be headed
by Amit Malik who will be responsible for driving growth in the region. The
company has already added over 20 new tier two partners and plans to augment its
sales force in the region to service over 500 customers in and around Kolkata.
Local presence of Cisco officials will help the company leverage the huge
potential of the eastern market. Commenting on the announcement, Jangoo Dalal,
Sr VP - Enterprise, Cisco Systems (India and SAARC) said, “We have seen
significant growth in the eastern region, particularly in the BFSI,
manufacturing sector and small medium business (SMB). The key reason for this
growth can be attributed to global ambitions of these businesses. Hence, it
is important for us to enhance our presence to effectively tap and manage this
region. With an office in Kolkata we will be closer to our customers, thus
improving responsiveness and speed of deployment.” Kolkata has emerged as a
BFSI and manufacturing hub of the East for the company with various large
banking and financial institutions like Allahabad bank, UCO Bank, National
Insurance Company, to name a few, opting for Cisco solutions.
