The channel will help effective interaction between eGovernance managers by offering a common platform for disseminating global practices through a combination of content, resources as well as an interactive platform. The channel provides latest eGovernance initiatives, news, features, and interviews with government and industry drivers, while papers and case studies. The channel will also feature a resource section with state gateways and categorized links.

"I firmly believe that IT can be a tool for empowering citizens. At present, many government departments and functionaries have a monopoly in dispensing services," said Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister in an interview to CIOL eGovernance channel. "It is possible using networks to provide both government information and services to the common man. Thus, the whole process of decision-making in government will become more transparent and accountable, ultimately resulting in the empowerment of ordinary citizens," he added.

Some of the eminent personalities who have offered support to CIOL-eGovernance initiative are Aruna Sunderarajan, IT Secretary of Kerala, Randeep Sudan, Special Secretary to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Anandkrishan, advisor to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on IT and eGovernance and Vivek Kulkarni, Karnataka IT Secretary.
