Canadian Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) has

set up a center in Delhi to provide international standard IT education to

students in India. The center would provide all the basic and advanced IT

courses at a reasonable price.

Along with training and education, the institute also

provides full assistance in placements. More still, it provides full

co-operation, if the student wishes to go to Canada for job or training. During

the program, a student joins a study group of three to five students. These

groups discuss assignments, supplement each other's experimental base, and work

together on project.

"India is becoming a new IT superpower and

therefore a great demand of good IT education has been arisen. The effect is not

only on improved learning of course material but it is also a reflection of a

real-life work environment," said I Paul, Director, CIIT Institute.

Ruling out possibilities of expanding to other cities in

the country he added that company is in planning process opening more centers in

the coming few months.

CIIT curriculum is based on recognized principles of

adult training that encourages participation, collaboration, and applied problem

solving. Assignments are designed to encourage immediate application of new

skills and knowledge at workplace. Human Resource Development Council has

approved all the courses at CIIT and IT vendors such as Microsoft and Cisco have

given their certification to it. CIIT also has affiliation with Indo-Canadian

Business Council.

Presently CIIT is offering five summer courses of 24-50

hours duration and one full time course of one-year duration. The institute has

enrolled around 40 students and is charging Rs 1,800 to Rs 3,600 for these

courses. The center is charging 40,000 for its one-year full time course. It

also provides specialized training for its faculty members. Presently the

institute has four faculty members and two counselors.
