Chennai Datacom, a topline system integrator providing LAN, WAN, telecom and IT solutions, is in full-swing executing an optic fiber campus-wide backbone network for Central Leather Research Institute
(CLRI), Chennai.
The company has bagged the Rs 70 lakh project from CLRI, Chennai a month ago and is working towards completing it in the next couple of months. "We are in the process of establishing a campus backbone network by connecting 15 building and 400 nodes located at various points. The network is mainly for Intranet and Internet requirements of the organization and would support multimedia applications," said Rajshekar, Managing Director, Chennai Datacom (P) Ltd.
Apart putting network in place, the company is also involved in supply and installation of terminals, development of application software and training CLRI staff for future software development requirements and maintenance of the network.
"The company is providing connectivity with D-Link and HP products and is supplying high-end servers of HP for this project, besides Magix PCs from Ingram Micro. "Our company is developing a 200-page portal for CLRI and future development and maintenance are going to be handled by CLRI themselves," said
Rajshekar.
Presently, the company is conducting a training program for CLRI staff in coding and programming, apart basic courses. "In multimedia, we are providing training in Adobe and Macromedia products and on development side, the concentration is on Java and Oracle related technologies," he said. It also offers training in Windows NT and Linux in administration segment and Microsoft products in the user line.
Recently, Chennai Datacom had bagged an order from Satyam for providing cabling solutions in their Internet kiosks
project. "We have already completed establishing connectivity in 25 centers and are hoping to do as much as we can," said Rajshekar. Satyam has signed a one-year contract with Chennai Datacom for cabling solutions in cyber kiosks.
"We are also expecting a few major networking projects from PSUs, in the next couple of months," he said.
As part of its future plans, the company is eyeing to enter software business by launching own products in ERP, accounting package, labeling software, billing solution and ID card software. "We would also leverage our strengths in web-based solutions," said Rajshekar. The company is also planning to provide sales and service of HP, IBM and Compaq computers.
Chennai Datacom has pegged a turnover of Rs 6 crore in the last fiscal and hopes to register a revenue of Rs 10 crore in the current year.
