The total digital projector market is estimated to be around 2.3 lakh units. This is corroborated by the numbers revealed in the CyberMedia Research report CMR's India Half Yearly Digital Projector Market Review, 1H FY 2013-14, March 2014 release. It said that the India digital projector market recorded total shipments of 1.14 lakh units during 1H FY2014 (April 2013 to September 2013).

BenQ remained in the top slot owing to its ability to provide satisfactory repair and replacement services, promptness in stock replacement along with consistent and effective communication with channel partners. It focused more on expanding to smaller cities and selling more of mid and high-end products. It also enhanced its post-sales support by increasing its number of service partners from the present 130 to 150 and reducing its TAT to 48 hours from the present 72 hours. However, the one of the weaknesses bothering partners are non-flexibility in commercial terms.

Tightly closed is Hitachi which grew on profit margins given to the partners with a prompt schemes and incentive programs. One of the strengths and important one is that it has dedicated personnel for maintaining relationships. The company has to act on proactive service approach. India being a top market priority for them aims to increase its market share to 14% in the next two years as it introduced products for the education and consumer segment. The company has integrated features such as a Central Lens position and Perfect Fit technology to ensure that the range is geared up for simple and user friendly functionality.

Erstwhile market leader Epson lacked in an effective management change due to change in personnel as well as with which the company honors commitments. Its strength of course remained in the diversity in product range and richness of online resources

offered.

According to CMR, vendors revised the prices across SKUs, owing to the prolonged pressure built up due to decline of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar. This resulted in steep increase in prices of XGA, WXGA and other higher resolution projectors. As a result, shipments of the relatively more affordable SVGA resolution projectors grew by 27% in 1H FY 2013-14 compared to the previous half year.
