Channel partners in East displeased with Microsoft products' sudden price rise

Increase of Microsoft product prices is causing disturbance in business execution. When Microsoft announced the sudden increase of prices of its two solutions around Aug-Sept 2013 many channel partners voiced displeasure with the move. The two solutions were Microsoft Datacenter, an enterprise class product and Remote Desktop Client Server. The rise was effective from 1st November 2013.

While speaking to them, they were troubled with the fact that there business got hampered due to the sudden announcement. In such cases, a firm should always keep enough time in hand for such price hike to be implemented. Many partners expressed that they even lost few customers during this sudden price hike.

Once again Microsoft has announced a recent price rise in enterprise and consumer products in India by 10-25%. Such a move will impact popular products which are priced at Indian rupee rates, names include PowerPoint, MSWord, Windows Server Operating System and other office software. This move will take place over several months starting from January 1st, 2014.

Since Microsoft products are sold at lower rates in India as compared to other economies, this price hike is intended to equalize the price structure on a global scale.

Speaking to a number of channel partners in Kolkata area, they opined that if Microsoft could give a prior notice while rising prices for consumer and enterprise products then why couldn't they do the same for Datacenter and Remote Desktop Client Server. Many Partners said that orders got delayed unnecessarily due to the sudden price change of datacenters by 28% and many had to pay the difference from their own reserves.
