Chennai, Oct 19

Chennai-based CCS Infotech, a PC and notebook manu-facturer,
recently received a rate contract for com-puters from supplies and disposals
department of Chennai. "We are ahead of our plans to achieve a Rs 100 crore
mark in the coming FY, and are hopeful that we get some good business out of
this contract," said H Ratna Kumar, Director, CCS Infotech. "The
contract would be for next 12 months, where we can supply computers to central
government and government-run offices at any time, without any tender or
formalities. The contract was issued for the consistent performance by CCS
Infotech, and only a very few manufacturers hold this rate contract. For this,
we also plan to tie-up a few more channels across the country," Kumar
informed.

Claiming that 75 percent of CCS's business comes from their
own PC business, Kumar said the company did a good business through exports last
year by touching Rs 64 crore mark with Rs 20 crore coming from export business
alone.

Collaborating with VSNL, CCS Infotech is providing lease line
solutions across the city. "It was one of our major products signed this
year, and initially we had few hiccups but later received many orders . Now we
are expecting a good revenue through the project as it

has gained momentum," Kumar said.

CCS Infotech is focusing mainly on retail outlets. Kumar
informed that around 10 percent of the total revenue came from retail segment.
He further informed that CCS proposes to bring 10-12 more outlets across the
city by this year-end and plans to duplicate the same across the country.

Kumar opined that education segments are contributing to a
great extent for CCS, as most of the engineering colleges across the state use
CCS computers. "We are doing a great business through educational
institutions, and even the government contributes about 30 percent in our
business, through various programs apart from receiving 25-30 percent of
business from SMEs," he added.

Speaking about the joint venture project in South Africa, he
said, "We are going to have our footprints in various regions, apart from
supplying our own brand computers to countries like Australia and the UK."
He informed that CCS would hold 49 percent stake in the joint venture and will
sell its own brand computers there apart from opening retail segments. According
to the response, it would also start a manufacturing unit in South Africa.
