Pune-based Cat Computer Services (P) Ltd, developer of anti-virus software, is now gearing up to expand its presence across the country by opening a slew of offices. The company has plans of tapping the corporate segment by developing a firewall and admin tool for remote installation of the anti-virus software.

Started in 1993, Cat Computer Services initially developed copy protection systems. It later diversified into anti-virus software development and developed the anti virus software called Quick Heal. The company is now eyeing a possible alliance with an overseas security company to scale up operations and is all set to launch its newly developed firewall and admin tool so that it could cater to the needs of the corporate clientele.

Kailash Katkar, President, and CEO, Cat Computer Services told CNS that although the company boasted of 300 channel partners across the country, it is now considering opening offices across India in order to offer the much needed support to customers. Katkar mentioned that Quick Heal combines proactive and reactive technologies to ensure complete protection from viruses, Trojans, backdoors, logic bombs, and other malicious programs. “We have been consistently tested and certified for 100 percent detection of all viruses by Check Mark, Virus Bulletin, Networking Files User Rating 5 and Soft LandMark among others,” he added.

The latest version of Quick Heal X-Gen 6.10, not only scans and cleans an already infected system before installation, but also has a new add-on engine to detect new generation worms. The Quick Heal messenger notifies its users with virus alerts, update notifications, tips and information. Cat Computers is in the process of doing a virus analysis for companies in countries including Israel, USA and France. The company reported a turnover of Rs 2 crore for the year 2003-04. Katkar added that this will increase by another 60 percent in the forthcoming year.
