Canon-Oce tie-up to change printer dynamics

integration,
the dynamics of digital printing and imaging market,
that has heavy weights like HP, Xerox and Ricoh is all set to change.
Oce-an international provider of digital document management
technology, imaging supplies, software and services has joined the
Canon Group of companies with
headquarters in Tokyo, Japan in early 2010. The Canon-Oce integration
is expected to unveil a plethora of products and solutions to its
partners with a variety of options.

Canon will be announcing
this strategic relationship on January 17 in India and the digital
printing major is expected to realign some of its business divisions,
and two new verticals are expected to come up, that may include
digital printing solutions division. As a highly channel-centric
vendor, Canon is not leaving any stone unturned. The imaging and
printing major, will also take out its 50 partners to Macau on
February 20, to offer some goodies, and is expected to sign some
distribution deals with them.

Oce North America Document
Printing Systems has started the sales of Canon Color imageRUNNER
C1030 series of MFPs through its direct sales offices. The visibly
buoyant Canon is expected to offer its partners a variety of small-
and-large format printers and scanners as well as expertise around
software-driven solutions, display graphics and outsourcing services
from Oce. This can facilitate partners with business opportunities in
the enterprise, corporate and government sectors. Speaking to The
DQ
Week
, Manoj Gupta, MD of Delhi-based Challanger Computers, which
has close to 10 years of association with Canon said that, they are
very excited and happy, and this can increase their products
portfolio, so that the customers get a wide choice. Complimenting
Canon, he said, "It is perhaps the only company, that gives
opportunity to its partners first. With this major leap forward, we
are optimistic for the opportunities in the corporate and large
enterprise segments, and there is no apparent competition."
Mumbai-based Haresh Gada,
Director, Network Techlab India said that, Canon-Oce combined will
provide good opportunities for partners. "This new initiative
will definitely increase Canon's product portfolio, and we will have
more things to offer as well, that will facilitate us to increase our
revenue stream," said Gada. According to partners and industry
pundits, this consolidation will help Canon to increase its market
share in a highly competitive landscape.
