Presently, the market of A4 copier MFDs is majorly dominated by players like HP, Samsung, Xerox and Ricoh. The company feels, the new launch will dent their market share with the new suits of products.

The imageRUNNER 1700 series which includes imageRUNNER 1730,1730i, 1740i and 1750i models offers high-speed A4 black and white printing, scanning and copying to address the mid and high-end desktop A4 printing requirements where A3 MFD has space constraints. This series comes with four variants with speed ranging for 30ppm to 50ppm. Also this comes with inbuilt universal send feature.

According to Bhaskar Joshi, manager(marketing), office, Imaging solutions division at Canon India, "We have been present in the A3 space for last many years. Having said that these are heavy duty and high priced printers. But, we see the government and SME sector are the key growth drivers for this segment; the A4 Copier based MFDs is ideally suited to meet all the requirements of the Indian SMEs and government segment. Organizations which are having printing need of 10,000 prints, are the suitable buyers."
