Canon clarifies its stand against E Commerce in Kolhapur Tech Caravan event

Canon, one of the leading brands in the printer market, clarified its stand on online commerce on the platform of Tech Caravan organized by The DQ Week in Kolhapur. Canon said that it is a Channel driven company and equally against predatory pricing by OLS portals.

The DQ Week had organized event in Kolhapur on 10th December. Tech Caravan is a unique event which brings vendors and partners on the common platform to discuss their issues their common issues. It is a platform which also gives an opportunity to partners to raise their local concerns.

Mr. Rahim, Senior Territory Manager, Canon, said that the company does not directly sell its products on online market places. He informed the partners that Canon has displayed the list of authorized dealers on its website who do not sell products below MOP.

“We are not directly involved in online sales. We are the channel driven company and equally sensitive about the pricing”, Mr. Rahim said.

On the query of difference in pricing of Canon products online and offline, Mr. Rahim, said that authorized dealers of the company cannot sell products below the landed cost. They are some of the partners in the industry who reduce the prices.

“Canon has tracking mechanism which tracks partners indulged in predatory pricing”, he said adding “the company is committed to take appropriate action against such partners.”

Canon also unveiled two wi-fi printers: LBP6030B/W and LBP6230DN in the event. Talking about the feature, Mr. Rahim said that both the wi-fi printers are cost effective and duplex with network. He said that its FPOT is 6 seconds, the memory is high and the cartridges are comparatively more.

Mr. Rahim said the product has been innovated considering the needs of HOME, SOHO and SMB segment and comes with 2 years warranty. He said positioning these particular products, partners can earn good margin.

Partners turned up in large number in the Tech Caravan. There were around 50 partners present in the event. There were few queries which were promptly addressed by the representatives of Canon during networking over dinner.
