Pune-based Cache Technologies Pvt Ltd, distributors for D-Link India, will

market D-Link’s VoIP phone in Maharashtra.

Speaking at the launch of the product, Suresh Joshi, MD, Cache Technologies

said that with the incre-ase in international calling, the D-Link DPH-70 VoIP

phone, would provide a che-aper alternative to many people across the state.

According to the company, the break-through technology reduced costs by 80

percent. More signi-ficantly, it does not require a computer. This is a phone,

which can be directly plugged into the telephone socket and international voice

calls can be made over the Internet.

According to Joshi, the home segment provides a huge market. "Software

companies and SMBs would also see a great use for this phone," he said.

Cache Technologies will promote this product through its 200 odd partners in

Maharashtra. It currently has 21 prime dealers and 700 resellers in the state.

Although this is a VoIP phone, it can also work as a normal PSTN phone.

Therefore, there is no need for two phones or instruments. Its features include

hands free dialing option, a multilingual voice menu that guides one through

every step of the set up process and new generation technology that offers

complete password protection.

Priced at around Rs 7,000, the phone has been designed at D-Link’s R&D

center at Bangalore and manufactured at Goa. Joshi said that the company expects

to sell around 2,000 pieces in Maharashtra. Nationally, D-Link plans to sell

around 50,000 pieces per year. The manufacturing plant at Goa has a capacity to

produce one-lakh pieces per annum.
