Despite registering a decent footfall in the 15th IT Utsav held by Business
Algorithm, this year it did not live up to the expectaÂtions of the organizers.
“Our main idea of organizing IT Utsav is to showcase the products that we deal
with and to make business out of the same. We do not just believe in gathering
crowds but to make sure that the people are well aware about the products in the
market and, we were considering a good amount of business from the students
segment this year but somehow it did not work in our favor. This year, the
bookings are more from the SOHO segments,” said Sudhir Budhay, PropÂrietor,
Business Algorithm.
During the IT Utsav, vendors displayed products from HP, Compaq, AOC and
Microtek. They even provided an overview on the current software development and
the software tools in the market. Giving more information about IT Utsav, Budhay
said, “We sold around 100-150 laptops of HP Compaq in last year's IT Utsav and
we were looking forward for the same positive response from the audience this
year. But we managed to sell 118 products from the HP-Compaq division from the
previous expectations of 150 desktops and laptops.”
The two-day event which flagged off on Sep 22 had 12 stalls and registered
around 5,000 footfalls.
Last year, IT Utsav had reportedly generated business worth Rs 35 lakh.
According to Budhay, “This year we had invested around Rs 2.5 lakh in IT Utsav
and managed to generate business of Rs 35 lakh from the SOHO segment. In spite
of distributing freebies and offering discounts in the products, it seems that
the examinations of the students clashed with the IT Utsav registering in less
number of crowd from the students segment.”
