Japan-based Brother Industries has introduced P-Touch range of electronic labeling systems through its Asia Pacific subsidiary Brother International Singapore Pte Ltd. These labelers are small and handy printers that use thermal transfer technology to print high quality labels. These use a tape cassette with plain label rolls in them as consumables.

Brother is the first company in India to launch such an instant labeling system. The company has appointed Kores India to distribute this product, which is presently being made available in three models: PT 65 costing Rs 3,900, PT 1750 for Rs 5,900 and PT 2300 for Rs 11,900.

Tape cassettes, about eight meter in length, are priced between Rs 350 to Rs 1,000, depending on color and material.

Before introducing the product the company did a test marketing for almost six months. "We got a good response during test marketing and now we intend to sell this product in eight major cites," says RS Anand Kumar, Country Manager, Brother International Singapore Pte Ltd.

According to Anand, Kores will not have more than four to six dealers in each cities for distributing this product. "Having a small team of dealers would mean a healthy margin of around 15 percent," adds
Anand.
