Acer PC for Rs
9,999
Acer has revised the price of its
entry-level desktop, the EL-1600. The PC will now be available for Rs 9,999
(excluding monitor) across the country with immediate effect. Based on Intel
single-core processor Atom processor 230, the Nettop when compared to the
conventional desktop computers is smaller, lighter and immensely affordable,
all this while consuming just one-third the power of a conventional desktop.

“The EL 1600 heralds the arrival of a much-needed computing solution that
appeals to the larger audience with an astute combination of pricing and
specs,” said S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India. “We are
confident that with the revision of prices, the EL 1600 will make a
significant dent on the Indian PC market. Consumers can now for the first
time get a no compromise MNC standard & quality tested desktop for under Rs
10,000 in the Indian market. This offering will significantly help grow the
overall market for PCs in India by offering the entry level PC user full
fledged performance machine at a previously unimaginable price.”

The EL1600 includes Intel Atom 230 CPU, SATA Serial Hard disk of up to
160 gigabytes, 1024 MB RAM Memory installed, Intel Graphics Media
Accelerator 950 and up to eight USB ports.

eMachines is sold through retailers, e-tailers and channel partners in the US
(home market) and was previously available in Canada, Japan, Mexico and the UK.
As part of Acer's multibrand strategy, brand eMachines is now being launched
globally across geographies and the India launch is part of this global
strategy.

Since its launch in 1998, more than five million eMachines systems have been
shipped globally and it was the second-largest vendor of desktop PCs sold
through US retail prior to its merger with Acer.

Acer also announced an exclusive distribution tie-up with Supertron
Electronics for eMachines across the country in its launch phase. The new lineup
of eMachines notebooks targeted to take on the latest entertainment and
productivity applications, as well as educational projects and presentations.

“eMachines's interlink pattern that adorns the top cover serves the practical
function of being smudge-proof, a bane with most notebooks that have a shiny top
cover which is prone to scratches and impressions/smudges left behind by
handling. The notebooks are LED backlit making them power efficient and they
come at competitive price points,” said S Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer,
Acer India.

"We are extremely confident of successfully partnering with Acer on brand
eMachines and help to extend its reach across target segments in the country,”
said VK Bhandari, Chairman, Supertron Electronics.
