BPE gets into online UPS

Targets Rs 100 crore tunover by 2008

Best Power Equipments (India) Pvt Ltd (BPE) has tied up with Taiwan-based UIS

Abler Electronics Co Ltd to import and market a complete range of online UPS in

the Indian market. The company that came into existence with importing and

marketing UPS systems under its brand BPE - in 2000-is gunning for a

turnover of Rs 100 crore by 2008. "Of this Rs 40 crore will be from small

UPS and Rs 20 crore from online UPS," said Ajay Agarwal, CEO, BPE. He

elaborated that the rest will come in from LCD monitors — a product that has

been recently added to the portfolio. "We have received the first

consignment of 250 pieces in January," he added.

Beginning with a turnover of Rs 1 crore the company experie-nced 100 per cent

year-on-year growth until its fourth year of operation when it recorded a growth

of 300 percent. Its turn-over from Indian operations in FY 2004 stood at Rs 16

crore. Agarwal said that aggressive pri-cing coupled with good quality has led

to their good growth and with each year they are getting stronger in the

segment.

With a manufacturing facility in China in Guangdong Province BPE has at its

disposal 40,000 units of UPS every month. Agarwal informed that India market

consumes 15,000 units and the rest is exported to OEMs based out of Turkey and

Middle East. "In India, the product is taken to the market in association

with the four OEMs and about 26 distributors spread across India," he said.

The company reaches out to 300 dealers in India. "We reach out to all of

India except MP, Rajasthan and Gujarat where we will be appointing dealers

soon," added Agarwal.

BPE is currently working on adding speaker range to its product portfolio.
