Police have traced the links of the satta network-unearthed recently in the state-to several metros of the country. Police also said that the bookies operated their satta network through emails.
City Superintendent of Police, Manohar Verma, said that a police party from here raided the houses of the key accused, Dilip Madhwani and Prakash Kalra in Indore. The police, during the raid, recovered a total of Rs 8,150 from their houses. The police also raided the Jairampur Colony located house of their agent, Rajesh, but no implicating evidences were seized, Verma said.
Dilip started his network from Ujjain 18-months back with the help of Aslam Maulana, who not only gave his second-storey house on rent for the purpose but also helped to organize the Mumbai-Worli and Kalyan satta there.
Prior to it, Dilip was in partnership with one Lala, a satta operator of Indore, but later the duo separated due to some mutual differences. Dilip also used to book the rates of Indore gamblers, Guddu Bhaiya and Atul Ratlam, on mobile phones.
The bookies had close links with cricket bookies of Ratlam, New Delhi, Kota and Mumbai. Satta was also operated through emails on laptop computers with the help of his local aide, Suraj Khandelwal aka Mota, who is still at large.
