The first IT fair ever held in Bihar concluded recently in Patna. Inaugurated
by Anil Kumar Singh, IT Minister of Bihar, the event was organized by BITA with
an objective of spreading IT awareness across the state. "I whole heartedly
support the cause the IT fair is propagating. This is the first ever an IT fair
is being held in Bihar and I am looking forward to developing the IT sector
across the state in the near future," said Kumar.
"Bihar so far has been lagging behind other states in IT. The level of
awareness is also low in the state. Through this fair we are aiming to bring
about consciousness in the state. We are looking at the fair more as a
promotional event rather than a selling point," said SN Prasad, President, BITA.
Registering a total participation from 22 enterprises across the state, major
players included Microsoft, Dell, HCL, Numeric Power Systems and others. "The
initiative taken by BITA and the IT Minister is commendable. Such fairs will
help the perception of the masses regarding IT to change and we would like to
participate in such events in the future as well," said Amanullah Khan, Senior
Manager, Numeric Power Systems.
The event witnessed a huge crowd gathering in the later half of the day as
nearly 5,000 people visited the fair. "This has been a huge success on our part.
The event has successfully attracted the masses, particularly the youngsters
here," said PK Sinha, Spokesperson, BITA.
Latest gadgets were displayed, including mini-laptops, high-resolution web
cameras, high range WAN systems, long-range microphone and chipsets. "The
equipments we have put up for the show are trendy and selected in accordance to
the choice of the youth. Here, we are more concentrating on the laptops and
multimedia equipment as the youth prefers these more to any other things," said
Sinha.
"This is the fruit of the initiative we have taken up after long years of
patience and hard work and we are looking forward to cooperating with the IT
industry in Jharkhand to expand the boundary of BITA," Prasad added.
