Touchtel, Delhi's first private fixed line service provider has announced the new attractive tariff plan - Zipnet Speed for its DSL subscribers. This plan shall make DSL service affordable and will allow the subscribers, the flexibility to define his monthly usage. The new tariff plans will offer high-speed DSL Internet access with maximum bandwidth of 128 KBPS. The subscriber will have to combine this DSL package with any Touchtel tariff plan of his choice.
Under the new tariff structure, the subscribers will only have to pay nominal DSL plan charges of Rs 200 per month and a single time registration charges of Rs 1000. Added to these, the usage charges as per the new tariff plan will be as low as Rs 30 per hour in the daytime and Rs 15 per hour at night, both of which are similar to current usage costs being paid for dial-up access.
Touchtel also announced, that they shall be providing bandwidth for their DSL subscribers through their Network i2i optic fiber leading to reduction in latency as compared to the satellite route thereby improving the access speeds and process efficiencies.
According to Rajeev Kohli, CEO, Touchtel (North Operations), "Our new DSL tariffs are pegged to replace the dial up market where in the subscriber pays up to Rs 34 per hour (Rs 10 per hour, ISP charge and Rs 24 phone charges) with limited bandwidth. With our service, subscribers can look forward to faster Internet speeds, more bandwidth and the freedom to make and receive calls within the access charges of Rs 30."

Keeping in line with this trend, our strategy is to increase the country's broadband penetration by encouraging new users by offering lower monthly charges and a low entry cost". added Mr.

There is a range of alternative tariffs available for the cyber café as well, as the SME segment as well designed to suit their varying bandwidth and usage requirements. With the provisioning of the internet bandwidth through i2i (Bharti's undersea link with Singtel), the customers will get bandwidth through optic fiber terminating till the United States, thereby giving excellent quality of service to the subscribers.
Touchtel's technology permits the simultaneous carriage of voice and data allowing the customer to remain on the Internet as well as carry out voice conversations. Apart from this, DSL services also enable customers to try out developing applications like gaming, e-education, entertainment, etc due to bandwidths on demand facility to be available shortly.
