Here is a portal, which has stood the test of the time where on the other hand many dotcoms met with an immature death. Bharatmatrimony.com, an exclusive and interactive Indian matrimonial portal offering the A to Z of matrimonial related services, saw a growth from a $ 10,000 company to a quarter million dollar company. Identifying the right market by launching the first language based matrimonial portal is according to J Murugavel, Founder and President of Bharatmatrimony the script for their success-story.
Stepping into its fourth anniversary, Bharatmatrimony is on an expansion spree where the service will now be available in Oriya, Parsi and Assamese too. The company, which has offices in six cities in India, will be opening new offices in Delhi and Cochin for this quarter. Started in 1998 as Tamilmatrimony.com, its success resulted into Bharatmatrimony.com, an umbrella website, which is available in nine more regional languages - Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Gujarati, Hindi, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi and Marathi. April 2002 will see Bharatmatrimony penetrate into wedding management where they will take care of the caterers, car arrangement, accommodation, music and other services required for a marriage occasion. "So anybody settled in US can come directly to India and get married for our offices in the various cities will look after the activities related with marriage. The moment when one thinks of marriage it should be Bharatmatrimony.com," said Murugavel. He also added that they would be launching an exclusive matrimonial portal targeted at the Muslim community of the world called the
Muslimmatrimony.com.
Bharatmatrimony records 80 percent of its revenue from marriage registration and 20 percent comes from other services like matrimonial classifieds in newspapers, booking wedding halls, sending telegrams, online wedding purchase etc. "Since we are based in India it helps our business a lot for 80 percent of our revenue comes from the NRIs," he added.
With a database of 75,000 customers, Bharatmatrimony.com has arranged 550 marriages including that of J
Murugavel.
