BenQ has announced that it would be expanding its Indian operation by
creating a new division–Digital Media, which will focus on growing its market
share in the corporate and government segments. The company also announced the
appointment of Vishal Sriwastv as the Business Head of this new initiative. The
Digital Media portfolio includes digital projectors, LCD panels, plasma displays
and joy books (laptops).
As Business Head, Sriwastv would be responsible for gro-wing BenQ’s market
share by expanding into new geograp-hies and launching new produ-cts. According
to the company release, while the company is launching new product cate-gories
such as LCD TVs (15-inch and 20-inch), this month and joy books in January 2004,
it is also increasing its product range for digital projectors from two to a
portfolio of six.
In a move that increases the company’s penetration into the north Indian
markets, BenQ has appointed Savi Vision as the distributor for its range of
projectors.
"With the corporate and government sectors accounting for the giant
share of the digital media market, it has become imperative for us to treat it
with special attention," said Ashish Bakshi, Country Head (India
operations), BenQ. "Clients will benefit from the combined skill and
experience of a single dedi-cated team of experts who fully understand their
requirements. The Digital Media division will ultimately provide a level of
synergy, creativity, consistency and service that clients just won’t find
working with multiple vendors for different products," he added.
In order to provide impetus to marketing initiatives of this new division,
BenQ has opened offices in strategic locations such as Bangalore and Chennai,
which are the key hubs of corporate activity. Plans are afoot to open an office
in Kolkata as well.
