Bareilly partners seek more vendor-dealer meets

Standing on the Ramganga river, Bareilly is one of the popular cities of Uttar Pradesh. The place is also known as Bans-Bareilly, not because it is famous for cane (bans) furniture, but after the names of the princes two princes, Bansaldev and Baraldev, sons of Jagat Singh Katehriya who founded the city in 1537.

Bareilly is also quite popular for Zari work, dari, jhumka, manja and surma (kohl). The place is also a foodies' delight as it offers delectable seekh kabaabs, which are sold across the old city by numerous small eateries.

The city is also a popular tourist hub as it boasts of rich cultural history and has various toursit hotspots like the famous Alakha Nath, Trivati Nath, Madhi Nath and Dhopeshwar Nath temples, besides the world-famous Ala Hazrat Dargah.

The city is also doing a decent business when it comes to the information technology segment. Although the market was better during Diwali, it is faring well currently too. "Market is doing well. Although we have seen a dip after Diwali and the festive season, but it is still not that bad," said DN Joshi of Deep Distributors.

The partners are hoping to good money in the coming year as well. " we are expecting to do good in january also. We hope the New Year brings cheer for us," said Sandeep Goyal, CEO, Eplus Infotech.

Laptops of HP and Sony are the top selling products of the market, which operates with around 85-90 dealers and has the annual turnover of around 50 crore.

The city is also peaceful when it comes to channel-vendor relation. "There are no major issues with vendors that we face," informed Goyal. Although, partners feel that there should be frequent meets organized by big NDs and vendors for better coordination and interaction. " We want that big NDs and vendors should come up with frequent dealer meets so that we can interact with them more often and address our problems if we have any. Otherwise the situation somewhat appears to be of a monopoly business where only dealers and channels are dependent on vendors," opined Joshi.

Another area where the market lacks is that it operates without any association as the market body named 'Bareilly Computer Dealer Welfare Association' was closed a year back.
