Asus is planning to open India office in Mumbai by the end of this quarter.
The company is also contempla-ting making Mumbai its SE operation headquarters.

The company is also pl-anning to tie-up with va-rious co-mpanies for laser
printers, LCD TVs and chi-psets. The co-mpany has laun-ched di-gimatrix,
barebone PCs by the name Pandit and barebone servers and would launch mobile
phones, digi-cams by the end of this year.

Adrew Tsui, India MD, As-usTeK, said, "With India poised as the biggest
emerging consu-mer market for IT, we have ma-pped the region as one of the focus
market and spread our presence across segments to offer the latest in
technology, that suitably caters to the emerging needs of the Indian
market."

AsusTeK has already been present in the Indian market with a slew of products
includ-ing motherboards, graphic cards and optical drives. The company is thus
enhancing its presence to strategically pene-trate newer segments of the markets
with the launch of new generation ser-vers and barebone systems.

The compa-ny’s ran-ge of pro-ducts would be available through distribu-tors
and is looking at expanding its channel network across the country to enhance
reach and penetration. The company will also be conducting focused cha-nnel and
end user programs through multi-channel marke-ting utilizing innovative promo-tional
methods.

In 2003, AsusTek Compu-ter revenues reached $ 6 bil-lion, which is nearly a
100 pe-rcent increase from the year before.
